DKV COLLEGE
Doshi Kalidas Virji Arts & Science College, Jamnagar is one of the three pioneering institutes of higher education in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, inaugurated by our celebrated teacher and then Vice-President of India Dr S. Radhakrishnan on 15/10/1955. The institute is named after a philanthropist and former accountant of the princely state of Jamnagar Mr Kalidas Doshi who donated a generous amount for the building. Maharaja Digvijaysinhji, then Jamsahib of Jamnagar, donated 14.13 acres of land for the cause. Dolarrai Mankad, a leading educationist and literary critic, envisaged the dream of Shree Kalidas Doshi of establishing a college in Jamnagar region. The college had been the only college in the district (till 2016) and the only Government college till date. The college offers undergraduate courses for Arts faculty (8 subjects) and for science faculty (5 subjects). The college runs two self-financed courses like Bachelor in Computer Education (B.C.A.) and postgraduate course’s availability for students of English language & literature (M.A.). This institute has been, thus, catering the need for higher education in the district for more than 65 years.
